African graduation Kente Stole with a Gye Nyame Symbol. This Kente graduation stole was Handwoven in Ghana using traditional methods that are centuries old. The symbol is an adinkra symbol called Gye Nyame. The Gye nyame symbol is probably the best known adinkra symbol from Ghana. It refers to the greatness and supremacy of God and signifies the all-knowing power of God. It is used in decorations, clothing, and artwork. It is a reflection of the religious character of the Ghanaian people.
