African graduation Kente Stole with a Golden Stool Symbol. This Kente graduation stole was Handwoven in Ghana using traditional methods that are centuries old. The Golden Stool is an African Symbol of Royalty. It is the Royal and Divine Throne of the King of Ashanti in Ghana. The stool is believed to be the heart and soul of the Kingdom of Ashanti and many wars have been fought, including with the British, to protect the Golden Stool. Hundreds of lives have also been lost. The graduation stole also has handwoven strips made of Kente, a material that was traditionally, worn by Traditional Ashanti Rulers.
